Asbestos & Industrial Hygiene Group Manager - North Florida (Leadership Role)

Jacksonville | Gainesville | Tallahassee | North Florida / Panhandle

A major nationwide engineering & environmental consulting firm is expanding its Industrial Hygiene & Hazardous Materials practice across North Florida , and we are seeking an experienced leader to head the regional Asbestos & Industrial Hygiene Group .

This is a high-visibility leadership position within a large, well-resourced organization known for its technical depth, long-standing client base, and strong operational support. The successful candidate will guide a growing team, shape the business strategy for the North Florida market, and oversee delivery of complex IH and hazardous materials projects across a wide portfolio.

About the Role

As Group Manager, you will:

  • Oversee a multidisciplinary team delivering asbestos, mold, IAQ, lead-based paint, and hazardous building materials assessments.
  • Lead field investigations, IH sampling programs, exposure assessments, and abatement oversight for buildings and infrastructure throughout North Florida.
  • Review and approve technical reports, ensuring accuracy, data integrity, and regulatory compliance.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level staff, driving professional development and technical excellence.
  • Partner with the regional leadership team to create annual business and operational plans.
  • Support proposal development, project scoping, pricing strategy, and client presentations.
  • Engage in client relationship management and business development efforts to expand the practice.
  • Guide daily operations: safety, staffing, workload forecasting, quality assurance, and financial performance metrics.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health, Safety, or similar
  • 7+ years of asbestos/industrial hygiene experience
  • AHERA Asbestos Building Inspector certification
  • Strong understanding of EPA, OSHA, and Florida regulations related to asbestos, LBP, mold, and hazardous materials
  • Experience conducting mold/IAQ assessments, IH sampling, and exposure evaluations
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage complex projects
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Valid driver's license

  • CIH, CSP, or Florida Asbestos Consultant (LAC)
  • EPA Lead-Based Paint Inspector/Risk Assessor
  • AHERA Project Designer or Management Planner
  • Florida Mold Assessor
  • Radon Measurement Technician/Specialist
