About the Opportunity

AD Energy Recruitment is supporting a growing Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) owner-operator with the hire of a Plant Operator to support operations at one of their RNG facilities in Malone, New York.

Our client develops, owns, and operates RNG assets across North America, converting agricultural waste, landfill gas, and wastewater-derived biogas into pipeline-quality renewable natural gas. These projects play a key role in decarbonising energy supply while delivering reliable, long-term infrastructure.

This is a hands-on operations role, focused on maintaining plant uptime, ensuring product quality, and operating safely within regulatory requirements.

The Role

The Plant Operator will be responsible for the day-to-day operation and maintenance of RNG production and upgrading equipment, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient plant performance.

This position works closely with engineering, maintenance, and operations teams and is well suited to someone with a strong mechanical and/or electrical background in an industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate, monitor, adjust, and maintain digesters and RNG upgrading equipment to maximise gas production
  • Execute safe and compliant start-up and shutdown procedures
  • Support process optimisation initiatives in collaboration with engineering teams
  • Conduct routine quality checks to ensure feedstock and RNG meet required specifications
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Troubleshoot plant and equipment issues to minimise downtime
  • Maintain accurate operational, production, and maintenance records
  • Uphold OSHA, site safety, and environmental compliance standards
  • Respond to alarms, incidents, and emergency situations as required
  • Participate in on-call and after-hours support when needed

Background & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent (technical training or certifications beneficial)
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with electrical experience preferred
  • Experience operating and maintaining industrial equipment
  • Background in RNG, biogas, wastewater treatment, or similar process environments highly desirable
  • Understanding of industrial safety practices and compliance standards
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a site-based operations team
  • Strong communication skills and a proactive, safety-first mindset
